$2,500 raised to search for Jessie Foster
Kamloops This Week by Darshan Lindsay

A weekend barbecue has raised $2,500 for the continuing search for Jessie Foster.

The former Kamloops resident left for Las Vegas a year ago and has since disappeared, with family last hearing from the 21-year-old on March 28.

A private investigator in Las Vegas has followed part of Foster's trail, discovering the young woman likely ended up on the streets as a prostitute, unbeknownst to her family back home.

"It was unbelievable," said Jessie's mom, Glendene Grant, of Saturday's barbecue, which resulted in a larger than expected turnout.

With more than 100 people showing up, the fundraising dinner was moved from the family's backyard on Dominion Street to Lloyd George elementary a block away.

Money raised will go toward paying the bills for the private investigator who Grant said has uncovered and offered more information than the Las Vegas Police Department.

NOTE: BECAUSE OF THIS ARTICLE, I CALLED THE EDITOR AT KAMLOOPS THIS WEEK, CHRIS, TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE CONTEXT OF SAID ARTICLE.
THE REPORTER CHOSE TO SAY, “likely ended up on the streets as a prostitute”, THOUGH, WE DO NOT KNOW WHERE SHE (Darshan, the reporter) GOT HER INFO, AS IT HAS NEVER BEEN STATED THAT JESSIE, “likely ended up on the streets as a prostitute” NOR HAVE WE WANTED THE PUBLIC TO SEE IT THAT WAY, AS WE HAVE BEEN WORKING HARD ON FUNDRAISING TO KEEP OUR PI-MIKE WORKING OUR CASE.

I emailed everyone in my contact list, to ask they complain about that article, and during the email, the editor, Chris, called me back to say a clarification will be put in the next paper, Friday, May 19, 2006.
